‘Get comfortable being uncomfortable’
My husband is a great believer in the saying, ‘Get comfortable being uncomfortable’. Meaning that in order to achieve your goals, sometimes you need to push yourself out of your comfort zone. He uses it every day in his profession as a mobility and recovery coach to help others realise their potential. This past week I’ve followed his advice and done exactly that.
After years of false starts, procrastination and self doubt, I finally made the decision to make and launch a website and really concentrate on pushing my art on social media. The feedback so far has been lovely and hopefully this little slice of my life will continue to grow into something more.
The absolute dream would be to develop a career as an artist, and it’s something I’m considering with a bit more seriousness as I get older. Time teaches you lots of things. One realisation is that you need to crack on, find things you love to do, and do them often. It also teaches you to care a little less about what other people think of you, and helps you realise that actually, sometimes you are your own worst, self sabotaging enemy.
So far it’s been really bloody uncomfortable, but as the days have gone by it does feel slightly less daunting. If you’re reading this far down the page - thank you | diolch, it means a lot!
